• Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources, Organizational Development or a related discipline and six or more years of progressive professional experience in a Human Resources department. May substitute a certificate in human resources from a recognized organization and/or equivalent experience in lieu of education. • Prefer a certificate in Human Resources, IEA, WCCA or CPDM from a recognized organization and/or equivalent experience in lieu of education. • Five (5) to seven (7) years of senior level experience in California examining workers’ compensation claims for an employer, insurance carrier, claims administrator, or self-insured organization. • Knowledge of California Labor Code for workers’ compensation and related requirements. • Able to prepare statistical loss analysis reports and prepare recommendations to management to improve controls and systems to reduce exposure to financial losses due to claims of injuries. • Able to balance multiple priorities. • Must have a comprehensive understanding of workers’ compensation principles, theories and concepts and a complete and thorough knowledge of claim handling, litigation, reserve practices, resolution, techniques, and standards of complex claims. • Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity; (2) excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including management and external parties: (3) excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including managers and external parties; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (5) the ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects. • Ability to work in a team environment is essential. • Willingness to further self-education in Human Resources and Leave and Disability fields. • Knowledge of OSHA reporting and requirements • Knowledge of employment law regarding terminations, benefits, COBRA, ADA, and how these areas may impact individual workers’ compensation cases. • This position requires regular on-site presence to support operational needs.
