Position Title: Systems Administrator
This role places a Systems Administrator at the center of a private-equity-backed manufacturing platform that adds one to two sites each year. Every acquisition brings a new integration project. The incumbent takes ownership of back-end systems, networks, and infrastructure as the fifth member of a small IT team, working directly with a hands-on VP of IT who does not micromanage. The work includes bringing acquired sites onto a unified platform, planning the move from outdated technology to modern systems, and building security into each project from the start.
The environment is laid-back, with family as a priority, and reasonable hours. The dress code is jeans and T-shirts, and start times are flexible, with either a 7-4 or a 9-6 schedule available. The role offers a mix of on-premises, Linux, and cloud work across Microsoft 365 and Azure, along with clearance sponsorship and exposure to classified systems work. A day-to-day management role may develop as the team grows, though it is not promised.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 / Year DOE
Plus a performance-based bonus tied to corporate results.
Systems Administrator Responsibilities
• Own the back-end systems, networks, and infrastructure for a multi-site light manufacturing company with facilities in five US states
• Integrate each newly acquired site by bringing its network and Active Directory onto the company platform and migrating its systems and users
• Interview plant managers and equipment operators at acquired sites to understand how legacy technology supports manufacturing processes, then plan the move to modern systems
• Drive a unified IT rollout across all sites
• Administer Windows Server and Active Directory, along with 10 to 12 Linux servers, in partnership with the VP of IT
• Support the move toward the cloud with Microsoft 365 and Azure
• Apply a security-first approach to every project, including federal cybersecurity compliance, policy and control development, change control, and the closing of gaps such as missing MFA at acquired sites
• Administer classified systems at headquarters once cleared
• Propose changes in clear, professional language to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Rack servers and handle hardware, including lifting 30+ lbs
• Travel one to two times per quarter for two- to three-day site visits with a defined task list, which is helpful but not essential
Systems Administrator Requirements
• 5+ years of systems administration and migration experience, with hands-on work in real operating environments rather than routine updates alone
• Experience in a multi-site environment with three or more locations, including user integration across sites
• 2+ years of experience consolidating systems and integrating companies following mergers or acquisitions, with at least two to three such integrations completed
• 5+ years of Windows Server administration, including server upgrades and migrations
• 5+ years of Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID hybrid experience
• 3+ years of network switch configuration experience, along with firewall configuration
• 3+ years of backup and recovery management
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and an intermediate understanding of TCP/IP networking
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to follow change control procedures
• Ability to work independently and manage projects without step-by-step direction, while collaborating effectively on a team
• Ability to understand and implement complex requirements, and to communicate them in clear, professional language to non-technical individuals
• Ability to lift 30+ lbs
• US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level U.S. security clearance, which includes a background investigation; the company sponsors the clearance and an active clearance is not required to apply
• Onsite work five days per week at the Bowling Green, OH headquarters, with flexibility for appointments
• Experience, rather than a degree, is the primary consideration
• 3+ years of edge-of-network firewall configuration experience is preferred
• ISSM, ISSP, or Security+ certification is preferred
• Experience with Linux server administration, Veeam Backup & Recovery, Aruba switches and Wi-Fi, and Fortinet firewalls and Endpoint Management Server is preferred
• Experience with cloud tenant migrations, such as Google to M365 or M365 to M365, and on-premises to cloud migrations is preferred
• Experience with Duo Security, macOS, and mobile device management is preferred
Benefits
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance with multiple plan options
• Long-term disability and voluntary life insurance
• 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match
• Paid time off
• Flexible start times and room for appointments
• Family-first culture with a casual dress code
Systems administrators with multi-site integration experience and a security-first mindset are encouraged to apply today and take ownership of an infrastructure that grows with every acquisition. Thank you for your time and consideration.
