Job Title Registered Nurse – ER Holding / Overflow Unit Location Winston-Salem, NC | Acute Care / ED Holding Schedule / Job Type Contract | Nights | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care on an ED Holding / Overflow unit with a daily census of approximately 18 patients • Manage a patient population that includes general surgery, medical telemetry, and cardiac telemetry diagnoses requiring medical intervention or surgical procedures • Perform IV starts and continuous telemetry monitoring as core clinical functions • Utilize unit systems including EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR for documentation and medication management • Float as needed to similar units, including an Extended Observation Unit (EOU) serving observation-level patients • Adhere to all pre-approved time-off policies; no additional time-off requests are permitted after signing Required Qualifications • Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact RN license (pending licensure considered at time of submission) • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in Emergency Room or related acute care setting • ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications required • Proficiency in IV insertion and telemetry monitoring • Must pass EKG testing prior to start • Local candidates are welcome to apply Preferred Experience / Skills • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred • Experience with EPIC electronic health records • First-time travelers are accepted for this position • Comfort with floating to similar or observation-level units Why Join Us • Structured onboarding with approximately 24 hours of unit orientation to support your transition onto the team • Opportunity to work in a dynamic ED Holding and Overflow environment serving a diverse medical and surgical patient population
