What You’ll Do As a shipyard rigger, you’ll help lift, move, position, and secure everything from pipes, valves, pumps, and motors to massive machinery and structural ship components. Responsibilities may include: • Operating cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment • Calculating load weights, centers of gravity, lift-point capacities, and sling angles • Selecting the proper rigging equipment for each lift • Lifting, maneuvering, and setting ship components into place • Erecting, maintaining, and dismantling scaffolding • Installing and maintaining shipboard ventilation equipment • Assisting with ship movements, docking, mooring, and outfitting operations • Inspecting, maintaining, and issuing shipyard tools and equipment What You Must Bring • Previous rigging experience • Strong knowledge of rigging methods, metals, and lifting equipment • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings • Excellent attention to safety and detail • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds • Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb • Ability to work at extreme heights and inside confined spaces • Ability to work any assigned shift based on production needs • Ability to pass a respirator fit test • Ability to pass a physical agility test • Ability to pass a hair-follicle drug test with a three-month lookback • A valid REAL ID or passport • U.S. citizenship, as required by this federal contract What You’ll Get • $30/hour • $140/day per diem, paid seven days per week when working a minimum of 50 hours • $0.50/hour perfect-attendance bonus, paid weekly • Health, dental, and vision insurance after the new-hire waiting period • 401(k) • Paid time off • Holiday pay • The opportunity to work on a nationally important, career-building project This is not a quick turnaround assignment.
