Description Job Overview This role will focus on developing and supporting Java/FUSE applications, REST APIs, event-driven integrations, and inbound/outbound data pipelines running within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The developer will help move data between Huntington systems and a third-party platform, process application events, and ensure data is reliably delivered to downstream enterprise repositories including the Data Lake and Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). This is an excellent opportunity for a junior-to-intermediate developer who has built a strong development foundation and is ready to take the next step into a Senior Developer role. The ideal candidate is capable of independently owning development assignments and troubleshooting integrations while continuing to grow their architecture, design, and technical leadership skills. Python experience is beneficial but not required. What We’re Looking For The successful candidate does not need to be a Technical Lead today. We are looking for someone who has progressed beyond entry-level development and is ready for greater technical ownership. The ideal candidate: • Has solid Java development fundamentals and can work independently on well-defined components. • Is comfortable owning an API, microservice, integration, or data flow from development through testing and implementation. • Understands how systems interact rather than focusing only on an individual application. • Can diagnose issues that cross application, API, event, and data boundaries. • Asks good technical questions and actively participates in design discussions. • Produces maintainable code and understands the importance of testing, logging, monitoring, security, and operational support. • Is comfortable receiving architectural direction from a Tech Lead or Architect while independently determining how to implement the solution. • Is interested in developing deeper skills in cloud-native applications, event-driven architecture, enterprise integration, and data engineering. • Has the potential to grow into a Technical Lead role over time. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and support Java-based integration services and APIs connecting third-party applications with Huntington systems. • Develop applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Huntington FUSE/FUSE Cloud frameworks. • Build and maintain RESTful APIs for secure, reliable exchange of enterprise data. • Develop inbound data flows that receive Huntington data and deliver it to third-party platforms. • Develop outbound integrations that receive data and events from third-party platforms and distribute them to downstream Huntington systems. • Build and support event-driven processing within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Develop reliable data pipelines supporting delivery of application data and events to the Data Lake, EDW, and other downstream consumers. • Implement appropriate validation, error handling, retry/recovery, logging, monitoring, and audit capabilities across integration workflows. • Troubleshoot issues across APIs, application services, messaging/event processing, and downstream data flows. • Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews to ensure solutions are maintainable and production-ready. • Participate in solution design discussions and translate technical designs and business requirements into working software. • Work closely with Technical Leads, Architects, Data Engineers, application teams, and third-party vendors to resolve integration issues and deliver solutions. • Contribute to CI/CD and automated deployment processes. • Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs, integrations, event flows, and operational support. • Participate in production support and root-cause analysis as needed. Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree • 3+ years of related experience Hands-on software development experience using Java. • 3+ Years Experience building applications with Spring Boot or a comparable Java application framework. • 3+ Years Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and working with JSON-based interfaces. Technical Qualifications • Understanding of microservices and service-oriented application design. • Experience working with data integration or application-to-application integration. • Familiarity with event-driven or asynchronous processing patterns. • Experience with relational databases and SQL. • Understanding of source control and modern development practices using Git. • Experience with automated build, test, and CI/CD processes. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across application and integration layers. • Ability to take ownership of moderately complex development assignments with guidance from a Technical Lead or Architect. • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, data engineers, architects, application owners, and business partners. Preferred Qualifications • Experience developing applications or integrations on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Experience with Huntington FUSE/FUSE Cloud or similar Spring Boot-based enterprise development frameworks. • Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging, publish/subscribe, or event streaming technologies. • Experience building inbound and outbound enterprise data pipelines. • Experience integrating third-party or SaaS applications with enterprise systems. • Understanding of enterprise API management, authentication, authorization, and API security concepts. • Experience delivering data to enterprise platforms such as a Data Lake, EDW, or analytical data store. • Familiarity with containerized/cloud-native application development. • Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry. • Python development or scripting experience is a plus, but is not required.
