Job Title Travel RN – CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) Location San Antonio, TX | Acute Care Schedule / Job Type Contract | Full-Time | Days, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Key Responsibilities • Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in a CVICU setting. • Manages increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice. • Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. • Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner. • Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and connects to appropriate resources. • Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to effectively manage the clinical situation. Required Qualifications • Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license. • Current BLS certification required (AHA only). • Current ACLS certification required (AHA only). • Current PALS certification required (AHA only). • Minimum of 2 years of pediatric cardiac experience, including chest tubes, pacing wires, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions. • Completion of new hire orientation within the first 30 days and successful completion of organizational and Critical Care department-specific competency validations. Preferred Experience / Skills • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. • 2 or more years of experience in a critical care setting. • Demonstrated ability to manage contingencies and develop long-range care goals in complex clinical environments.
