MRE is seeking a senior Project Manager / Program Manager in Houston to help lead within a $150M+ program. We are looking for someone who knows Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) and has run CTRM projects: a leader who understands the trade lifecycle from deal capture through settlement and can steer a large, multi-workstream effort across business, technical and vendor teams.
As a Project Manager, you will be leading MRE’s project teams to plan and execute solutions for our clients. Working collaboratively with technical specialists, business analysts, end users and senior leadership, you will be driving project success, managing resources, budgets and scope, and coordinating efforts of the team to successfully deliver results.
What You Will Be Doing
• Cross-functional collaboration: Coordinate across teams, business stakeholders, technical resources, and leadership to align priorities and deliverables.
• Stakeholder management: Manage communications, expectations, and competing priorities across internal teams, clients, and external partners.
• Timeline and delivery management: Track project plans, milestones, dependencies, and deadlines while proactively addressing delays and changes.
• Technical team coordination: Work with developers, architects, business analysts, and other technical resources to facilitate communication and resolve blockers.
• Documentation and organization: Maintain project plans, status reports, meeting notes, action items, risk and issue logs, and decision tracking.
• Global team and vendor coordination: Manage collaboration across diverse resource profiles, third-party vendors, regions, and time zones.
• Risk and issue management: Identify delivery risks, track issues, coordinate resolutions, and escalate concerns as needed.
• Project reporting and governance: Communicate project status, progress, risks, and outstanding decisions to stakeholders and leadership.
• Scope and change management: Track changes to requirements, deliverables, and timelines while communicating downstream impacts.
• Consulting delivery: Navigate evolving client needs, competing priorities, and ambiguous requirements while maintaining accountability and delivery momentum.
• Own the integrated plan across front-, middle- and back-office and logistics workstreams, including interfaces, data migration and testing
• Govern scope, budget and change at $160M program scale, reporting to executive sponsors
• Lead platform vendors, integrators and client teams as one delivery team
• Drive business readiness and cutover planning around trading, settlement and month-end cycles
Who You Are / What You Bring
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical or business discipline (preferred)
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in project or program management
• Proven track record of success in a project management role
• Ability to drive change within an organization internally
• High sense of urgency and expert level organizational skills required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with project leaders, business analysts and users to understand business requirements and issues
• Strong drive, initiative, accountability and enthusiasm
• Strong team player and entrepreneurial spirit
• Leadership skills with a strong drive to succeed, teach others and take on new challenges
• Senior-level project or program management experience leading large, complex, multi-workstream programs; experience managing programs at or approaching the $100-$200M scale is a strong plus
• Hands-on experience leading Energy/Commodity Trading and Risk Management (E/CTRM) projects, preferably end to end (business case, vendor selection, design, implementation, cutover and stabilization)
• Working knowledge of the trade lifecycle across front, middle and back office, and the ability to speak credibly with traders, risk managers, operations, settlements, accounting and IT
• Experience with E/CTRM platform implementations, upgrades or migrations, and with the systems they integrate with (ERP/finance, market data, scheduling and logistics, exchanges and clearing, counterparties)
• Ability to be based in, or relocate to, Houston, Texas
Preferred Characteristics
