Role Details • Full-Time • Office Location - New York City (preferred) Why Translucent Healthcare providers drive $2.5 trillion in medical expenditures annually — and operate on razor-thin 2–5% margins. Despite these stakes, the finance teams behind these organizations are buried in spreadsheets, manual data pulls, and disconnected systems, spending more time finding and cleaning data than actually using it to make decisions. Translucent is changing that. We're building the agentic AI platform designed exclusively for healthcare finance— giving every finance team, department, service line their own arsenal of AI Agents that run 24/7, understand their specific data, business logic, and workflows. Founded in 2024 and backed by GV, NEA, FPV, and Virtue, we've already been deployed by healthcare organizations managing over $5 billion in combined revenue. The product-market fit is real, the problem is massive, and we're just getting started. If you want to work at the intersection of AI and one of the most complex, consequential industries in the world, this is the place. Role Overview We're looking for a Product Designer to help shape the everyday experience of Translucent: the AI financial platform transforming how healthcare organizations make business decisions. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with our Founding Designer and Product Engineering to take ideas from rough concept to polished, shipped product. This role is hands-on and craft-focused: less about setting design strategy from scratch, more about turning complex financial and operational workflows into clear, usable, intuitive experiences, and making sure design intent survives all the way to production. If you are energized by fast-paced environments, love sweating the details, partnering closely with engineers, and seeing your work in customers' hands quickly, you'll feel at home here. What You’ll Do • Partner with Product Engineering and our Founding Designer to take projects from concept to shipped without hand-offs, owning the details that make the difference • Hunt down the "paper cuts" to refine key screens and flows, fix small inconsistencies, and design the missing pieces (empty, loading, error, and edge-case states) that make a product feel complete • Own design QA: review implementation against intent, hold the bar on typography, spacing, and interaction, and make sure what ships is production-ready and precise • Formalize ambitious concepts into clean, well-organized design files and reusable components the whole team can build on • Use and improve our design system, keeping patterns consistent as the product scales • Fold in feedback from Product, customers, and live usage to refine and iterate What You Have • 5–8 years designing high-quality digital products, ideally in SaaS, analytics platforms, or AI-powered tools • Strong UX and interaction design skills: you can simplify complexity without flattening it • Real visual taste: you obsess over typography, hierarchy, spacing, and layout • Experience designing for data-heavy, workflow-driven use cases • Ability to produce production-ready designs and prototypes at a good clip • Product sensibility: You think beyond the screen to how real users will experience what you build • End-user empathy: Genuinely driven to understand healthcare operators' workflows and pain points • Startup realist: Ready to sprint when priorities shift, jump into unfamiliar areas when the team needs it, and wear multiple hats • Collaborative style: You work fluidly with Product and engineers and can explain the "why" behind your decisions • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences Nice to Have • Experience designing for financial analytics, enterprise workflows, or healthcare users • Experience with conversational interfaces, copilots, agents, or generative AI UX patterns • Familiarity with maintaining design systems and component libraries in production • Prior startup experience where you owned hands-on execution • You can code (even a little!) Experience Level We're looking for designers who own meaningful surface area and drive work forward independently by partnering closely with our Founding Designer rather than setting design direction solo. You'll bring a ruthless eye for detail, the judgment to make sharp trade-offs under ambiguity, and the taste to recognize what makes an enterprise product feel polished and low-key delightful, not just functional. https://www.translucent.co/ Base Salary: $140,000-$200,000 USD + equity
