Company: Marsh Risk Description: We are seeking a talented individual to join our Treaty Reinsurance (Guy Carpenter) team at Marsh Risk India, a Marsh business. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. Senior Vice President/ Executive Vice President We will count on you to: Core Job Responsibilities • Treaty Structuring & Placement: Design and place proportional (Quota Share/Surplus) and non-proportional (Excess of Loss/Stop Loss) treaties, covering entire portfolios rather than individual risks. • Business Procurement & Relationship Management: Identify, approach, and maintain strong relationships with domestic (e.g., GIC Re) and international reinsurers and brokers. • Technical Analysis & Risk Assessment: Analyze client underwriting portfolios, loss history, and risk retention philosophy to provide technical data for reinsurance pricing. • Market Negotiation & Placement: Negotiate competitive treaty terms, including commission, rates, and coverage limits. • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations on reinsurance • Claims & Accounts Management: Assist in claims negotiation, settlement, and premium remittance to ensure proper cash flow between insurer and reinsurer Core Competencies: • Client Focus: Understands client needs and delivers tailored solutions that create value and strengthen relationships. • Communication: Clearly and confidently conveys information, both verbally and in writing, while listening actively and empathetically. • Collaboration: Works effectively with colleagues across teams and disciplines to achieve shared goals. • Analytical Thinking: Gathers and interprets complex information, identifies key issues, and proposes practical, well-reasoned solutions. • Commercial Awareness: Demonstrates understanding of market dynamics and identifies opportunities for business growth. • Integrity and Accountability: Acts with honesty, transparency, and professionalism; takes ownership for delivering quality outcomes. • Adaptability: Adjusts effectively to new situations, challenges, and client requirements while maintaining focus and composure. • Resilience: Performs effectively under pressure and remains positive and solution-oriented in the face of challenges. • Continuous Learning: Proactively seeks opportunities for professional development and knowledge sharing. • Innovation: Brings forward new ideas and creative approaches to improve client service and business performance. What you need to have: • 12-15 years of proven experience in reinsurance broking or a related client-facing reinsurance role, in India • Strong understanding of treaty and facultative placements, all lines of reinsurance • Excellent working knowledge of Indian and international reinsurance markets. • Collaborative approach with the ability to work flexibly within a team. • Education – Graduate / Post Graduate • Commitment to professional development and maintaining the highest standards of conduct, integrity, and customer focus What makes you stand out: • Proven Leadership skill traits (elected leader in community, school & college).
