Description We are seeking responsible, enthusiastic, and flexible Substitute Teachers to provide instruction and support in our daycare/ preschool (ages 2-4) when regular teachers are absent. The Substitute Teacher is expected to implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher, manage student behavior, and create a safe and positive learning environment. About the School Established in 1948 in Mamaroneck, NY, Westchester Day School, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational, dual curriculum Jewish elementary school (2-year-olds through 8th grade), prepares students to live as mensches and lifelong learners and inspires them to impact the world around them by cultivating a commitment to Torah, midot, community and academic rigor. Responsibilities: • Deliver lessons and activities based on the teacher’s prepared plans. • Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and other areas as needed. • Maintain classroom routines and expectations. • Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student behavior and completion of lessons. • Adapt teaching methods to meet student needs as appropriate. • Uphold school policies, rules, and procedures. • Communicate effectively with students and school staff. • Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or coursework in education preferred. • Valid teaching certificate or substitute teaching permit (as required by state or district). • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus. • Strong communication and classroom management skills. • Ability to follow instructions and maintain a positive and professional demeanor. Salary range for this role is $17.00/hour- $22.00/ hour, depending upon education and experience.
