Description Under the direct supervision of a license clinical social worker, the Student Social Worker will provide psychosocial support to patients and families or significant others so they can cope with chronic, acute, or terminal illness. May advise family caregivers, counsel patients within their scope of practice, and help plan for discharge needs including arranging for in-home care and/or equipment or alternative placement. Work closely with other disciplines to create best case management and discharge plans Requirements • Current Idaho LSW required and in graduate school working towards MSW. • Previous discharge planning or case management experience preferred. • Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job title and the unit/area(s) of assignment. • Excellent communication skills to include oral comprehension/expression and written comprehension/expression. • Ability and willingness to work with patients’ growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patients in the unit/area(s) of assignment. • Ability to manage a chaotic work environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying. • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect). • Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence.
