Job Summary: The Student Radiologic Technologist takes radiographic images while performing a diagnostic imaging examination. Key Responsibilities: • Assesses patient and their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. • Explains and prepares the patient for all radiographic procedures. • Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts in order to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure. • Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology and effects of disease processes to properly and safety position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield. • Maintains radiographic equipment and x-ray rooms in proper working condition. Reports malfunctions and necessary repairs to supervisory personnel. • Checks stock inventory and initiates orders. • Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards. • Communicates with providers on types of x-rays that can be done at JVCHC. • Downloads reports and distributes them daily. • Keep disc for records storage. • Orders UPT as needed on female patients. • Must have working knowledge of electronic medical records and how to navigate within the system to retrieve material. Requirements Required Qualifications: • Currently enrolled in an ARRT accredited School of Radiological Technology as a senior student. • Successful completion of all freshman clinical competencies.
