About Volta
Volta is the category-defining, fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform – from capital to clusters to software, under a founder-led enterprise. Our mission is The Utility of Compute™: AI infrastructure as dependable and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it. Launched with a $10B strategic partnership with one of the leading frontier AI labs, a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5B AI Infrastructure Fund, Volta is building the infrastructure layer of the AI era from the ground up. We are 100+ people across London, Palo Alto, and New York, with rapid growth expectations to hundreds.
About The Role
The Customer Success Manager owns the relationship with customers running large-scale AI workloads on Volta's compute platform. You will be the primary point of contact for onboarding, adoption, and ongoing success, working closely with service operations and support to make sure customers get real value from Volta's infrastructure.
This is a relationship-first role: you will be the steady, trusted presence customers turn to as they scale their use of Volta's platform.
What You Will Be Doing
•
Own the customer relationship from pre-contract engagement and solution alignment through onboarding, production operations, renewal, and expansion.
•
Partner with customers and internal teams during pre-sales to understand customer requirements, shape solutions, validate technical feasibility, and support contract negotiations.
•
Maintain a detailed understanding of each customer’s MSA, SLAs, technical requirements, and commercial commitments.
•
Guide customers through onboarding and handover, including acceptance milestones and production readiness.
•
Lead SLA and business reviews, monitor account health, and proactively surface risks, opportunities, and required actions.
•
Serve as the first line of defense when uptime or SLA performance is at risk, coordinating across engineering, networking, data-center operations, support, and external partners.
•
Understand the drivers of service issues, (e.g. GPU, compute, network, storage, hardware, and facility failures) and communicate clearly through resolution and root-cause analysis.
•
Advocate for customer needs internally, translating feedback into product and engineering priorities.
•
Build repeatable onboarding, escalation, SLA-management, and customer-success playbooks as Volta grows.
What You Bring
•
7-10+ years of experience in Customer Success, Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
•
Experience managing SLA-driven, contract-backed relationships with AI companies, hyperscalers, cloud providers, or large enterprises.
•
Strong understanding of AI infrastructure, including GPU clusters, compute, networking, storage, and training and inference workloads.
•
Technical depth to investigate service issues, diagnose likely causes of downtime, and work effectively with engineering teams.
•
Experience interpreting MSAs and SLAs and supporting technical or commercial contract negotiations.
•
Strong communication and relationship-building skills across technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior executives.
•
A proactive, organized, and data-informed approach to account health, operational risk, and SLA management.
•
Comfort building processes and working through ambiguity in an early-stage startup.
Location
•
This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
