Description Job Summary: The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Before and After School Counselor to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children in our afterschool program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with youth and committed to fostering their social, emotional, and physical development. *Positions available in Bayshore, Southern Oaks Middle School, and Village Green* Key Responsibilities: - Supervise and engage children in a variety of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and educational programs. - Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and teamwork. - Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning and personal growth. - Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times. - Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding children's progress and any concerns. - Assist in maintaining a clean and organized program space. - Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required. **Complimentary Gym Membership Included** Requirements Skills and Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is a plus. - Previous experience working with children in a group setting, preferably in an afterschool or camp environment. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. - Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude. - DCF 45 hours preferred. - First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within first 30 days. Must pass drug test and Level 2 Background Check.
