SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervise sibling and/or family visits. These visits will take place on campus or in the community. • Assist caseworkers with service referrals, home assessments, obtaining documentation such as consents and vital documents. • Provide counseling and crisis intervention to children and families. • Assist supervisor with department paperwork and scheduling. • Schedule and accompany residents to DMV and other community appointments • Additional responsibilities as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s Degree. • Experience with I/DD population preferred • Valid NYS Driver’s License • Strong computer skills preferred RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS Externally: interacts with NYC Administration for Children’s Services, school systems, other community-based organizations Internally: interfaces with other team members In addition, employees need to possess the following characteristics: • Be team players. • Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and those we serve within our organization. • Possess a strong belief in people’s ability to grow and change; forge a mutually respectful partnership with persons served and their families. Ability to set limits and maintain helping role of practitioner and to intervene appropriately. WORKING CONDITIONS Requires occasional flexibility in hours to accommodate family visits, service plan reviews and crisis intervention. Agency vehicles are available for driving, subject to DMV check of caseworker’s driving record. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Responsible for meeting the stated requirements of the position. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE Works within the structure of the Residential Treatment Center as that relates to the overall agency organization
