The Opportunity: The Welder 1, is responsible for performing MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications. Job Title: Welder 1 Location: Winsted, MN Salary Range: $23.06 – $27.03/hour (Non-Exempt) (In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Incentive bonus opportunity: Freight Train Profit Sharing - Average of +$3.50/hour based on meeting goals Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday - Thursday 5am - 3pm OR 2nd shift Monday – Thursday 3pm – 1am OR Weekend shift Friday – Sunday 5am - 5pm Shift Differential: 1st shift - N/A, 2nd shift - $1.50/hour, Weekend shift - $2.50/hour As a Welder 1, you will: • Perform the following GMAW welds: butt, V, Single bevel, and fillet welds on carbon steel • Perform MIG welding tasks to Welding Procedures Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements • Produce welds that pass visual inspection • Demonstrates the ability to weld the above weld joints with either .045 and/or .062 diameter wires • Proficient in print reading and understands weld symbols and welding gauges • Read and understand MMC's WPS's - select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS weld parameters • Layout and tack to specifications • Use grinder or other appropriate tools to clean, smooth out, grind or finish parts as needed • Use various machines to fabricate, build, and design products • Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes • Monitor the production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in the designated sequence • Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation • Enter job data in production tracking system • Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required. • Must be AWS GMAW certified • Welders employed with Millerbernd will have the opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements including AWS certifications within 14 days of employment • Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements Role Qualifications as a Welder 1: • Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory • MIG Welding experience is preferred • Other combinations of formal welding training and experience will be considered • Proficient in welding techniques on flat, vertical and rotating planes • Operational knowledge of Electric Plasma and Acetylene Torch • Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols • Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed • Ability to operate various power and hand tools • Knowledge of weld positioners, turners, fixtures and equipment What we offer for employment: Comprehensive Benefits - • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance – Two medical plan options, with company HSA contributions • Health & Flexible Spending Accounts (HSA/FSA) – For medical and dependent care expenses • Life & Disability Insurance – Company-paid basic life, AD&D, and short-/long-term disability • Voluntary Benefits – Including optional life, legal & ID protection, accident & critical illness insurance Financial Security - • 401(k) with up to 4% Match – Immediate vesting • Incentive Pay – Certain roles are eligible for the Performance-based “Freight Train Profit Sharing (FTPS)”Incentive plans • This team incentive plan has a weekly goal and a weekly stretch goal • If goals are achieved, the monthly payout can be up to $1,000 per eligible employee Work-Life Balance - • Accrual or Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays • Tuition Reimbursement – Up to $5,250/year for job-related education • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – Free, confidential support services • Onsite Training – Includes leadership, welding, and language courses • Uniform Subsidy – For eligible roles Benefits available to employees working 30+ hours/week. 401(k) available to all employees.
