Sierra Donor Services is seeking a board-certified Organ Recovery Surgeon to assist with the clinical, operational and research activities. The candidate will have the following responsibilities: • Surgically recovers abdominal (liver, kidney, pancreas, and small bowel) organs for transplantation and research in donor hospitals throughout the service area. • Assumes on-call responsibilities as required to assure adequate coverage for donor activity and must be available to surgically recover organs at the specified time. • Supports compliance to CMS and UNOS regulations and AOPO standards and/or other medical/legal requirements. • Provides education and training to OPO staff and hospital personnel involved in the donation process. • Serves as an advisor between the organization and hospital staff when organ procurement is in progress. The ideal candidate will have the following education and work experience qualifications: • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified in general surgery with a current licensure • 5+ years of experience in organ recovery and transplantation, medical management of organ donors, and/or in critical care • Availability for weekdays and weekends of donor recovery call (number of call days to be determined) • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact with all management, supervisors, and staff.
