Cook The Cook works with the Food Service Manager and other kitchen staff to ensure meals are presented to the camp community in a timely, appealing, healthy, and appropriate manner. Greets everyone by name whenever possible, extends thanks when appropriate, and makes relationship-building a priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image, and core values of the YMCA of Greater Hartford are conveyed. Essential Functions • Oversee the preparation and service of meals, including supervising assisting staff during assigned shifts. • Ensure all food is cooked on time and prepared in an appealing and healthy manner. • Ensure appropriate sanitation and safety standards are maintained in accordance with Health Department guidelines. • Maintain required records in compliance with YMCA of Greater Hartford, government, and ACA standards. • Consistently provide friendly and courteous assistance to program participants and parents, exceeding customer expectations. • Recognize and respond effectively to hazardous situations. • Assist in maintaining cleanliness within the assigned area. • Interact with all members and participants in a professional and courteous manner. Job Requirements • Must be at least 21 years of age. • Three years of experience cooking in an institutional setting. • Knowledge of all applicable Health Department regulations. • CPR and First Aid certification. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Commitment to working with a diverse staff and camper population in support of YMCA goals.
