Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Jones County $1,000 Sign-On Bonus Location: Jones County, IA Company: To The Rescue Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM | Occasional Saturdays About the Role To The Rescue is looking for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with disabilities in their homes and communities throughout Jones County. This is a hands-on, people-focused role where no two days are exactly alike. You’ll help individuals with everyday activities, appointments, errands, community outings, and personal goals — while building meaningful relationships and supporting greater independence. What You’ll Do Daily Support & Independence • Provide individualized support based on each person's needs, goals, and support plan • Assist with everyday activities such as grocery shopping, household tasks, scheduling appointments, and running errands • Encourage and support independence in daily living, social, and community activities • Provide supervision and assistance to help ensure the health and safety of the individuals you support • Help individuals work toward their personal goals and participate in activities they enjoy Community & Transportation • Support individuals in getting out into the community and participating in activities and outings • Provide transportation to appointments, errands, activities, and other community destinations • Help individuals build and maintain connections within their communities Communication & Documentation • Complete required documentation accurately and on time • Communicate with supervisors, case managers, families, and other members of the individual's support team as needed • Follow each individual's support plan and provide services as outlined • Attend required training, staff meetings, and professional development Safety & Advocacy • Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment • Respond appropriately to challenging situations or emergencies • Respect individual rights, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality • Represent To The Rescue professionally when working with individuals, families, coworkers, and community partners Basic Requirements - What We’re Looking For You don't need to have years of experience to be successful in this role. We're looking for someone who is: • Patient, compassionate, and dependable • Comfortable working independently while also being part of a support team • A strong communicator who can build positive relationships • Comfortable using computers and learning new software • Able to stay calm and professional in challenging situations • Interested in helping others build independence and participate in their community • High school diploma or GED required • Must be at least 18 years old • Must have a valid driver's license • Must be eligible for To The Rescue's vehicle insurance requirements Work Environment This is a community-based position, so your day may take you to an individual's home, appointments, local businesses, recreational activities, or other community locations throughout the Jones County, IA and nearby area.
