How you’ll contribute A Vascular Sonographer who excels in this role: • Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable. • Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities. • Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. • Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area. • Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth. • Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested' refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure. • Assists the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines. • Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations. • Possesses an in-depth knowledge of anatomy/physiology, technical expertise and able to improve standard procedures to enhance diagnostic results when needed. What we’re looking for Applicants should have an associate degree in ultrasound/sonography or equivalent and a New Mexico license to practice as a vascular sonographer.
