The Welder performs fabrication and welding work using Mig, Tig, and Stick welding processes in accordance with engineering drawing, specifications, and established procedures. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. • Prepare, cut, grind, and fit materials for welding according to engineering drawings and specifications. • Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding in accordance with established procedures. • Produce quality welds that meet required specifications and standards. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and welding instructions. • Use measuring and inspection instruments to verify layout and complete work. • Identify appropriate metals and corresponding filler materials. • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. • Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • Minimum of one year of welding experience. • Basic knowledge of metal types, filler materials, welding procedures, and measuring/inspection instruments. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow established welding procedures. Working Conditions and Physical Demands • Frequently requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting and/or moving up to 100lbs. • Work is performed in a metal fabrication shop on a plant property and may involve exposure to noise, varying temperatures, fumes, odors, and other conditions associated with welding and metal fabrication. • Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and others as required to perform the essential functions of the job.
