Full description

The Technical Product Manager II plays a pivotal role in Delta Dental's technology modernization strategy, owning the vision, strategy, and roadmap for internal back-end platform products that enable engineering teams across the enterprise. This role supports Platform Engineering Standards, Common Services, APIs, and other developer-facing platforms, building reusable internal platforms, services, and tooling that improve developer productivity, standardize engineering practices, and accelerate software delivery. Working closely with Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and application development teams, you'll define long-term platform capabilities, drive modernization initiatives, and deliver scalable, reusable solutions that strengthen enterprise resiliency. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now, or at any time in the future. • Lead platform engineering product initiatives in partnership with development teams to maximize product value and drive long-term platform evolution. • Create and execute product roadmaps, strategies, and platform modernization plans. • Champion platform capabilities and initiatives, driving them from concept to implementation. • Define and track measurable outcomes and KPIs, ensuring alignment with business and engineering objectives. • Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, and cross-functional teams to define platform capabilities and translate them into actionable product requirements. • Prioritize and manage product backlogs, balancing modernization, technical debt, operational needs, and long-term platform investments. • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform platform strategy and engineering enablement. • Partner with engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reusable platform capabilities. • Provide product leadership and guidance to engineering teams and internal stakeholders. • Ensure platform solutions meet defined quality, scalability, security, and reliability standards. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • 5+ years of product management experience with internal back-end platform engineering products (e.g., APIs, infrastructure, or developer platforms). • Proven experience delivering platform modernization initiatives and long-term platform capabilities. • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, cloud technologies, and Agile methodologies. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional engineering teams. • Analytical mindset with experience defining and measuring product outcomes and KPIs. • Experience operating in ambiguous environments, balancing modernization, technical debt, and long-term platform strategy over feature-release delivery. • Experience with authentication and authorization technologies is preferred. • Knowledge of platform engineering, APIs, and developer platforms is a plus. • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
