Role The Tax Counsel & Advisory group seeks a highly motivated individual who will support various front office business units and assist with research and planning. Responsibilities include: • Assist with domestic and international planning. • Support various front office business units, including analyzing and structuring transactions, drafting legal documentation and memoranda, advising on reputational risk, and advising senior business leaders on tax matters. • Assist with transfer pricing strategy, planning and defense. • Analyze new products and business lines for tax issues. • Advise on information reporting and withholding matters relating to the firm’s brokerage businesses. • Advise on tax matters related to the firm’s joint ventures and merchant banking portfolio. • Advise on new tax legislation and guidance that may impact the Firm. • Advise on IRS audit matters. • Advise on tax equity/clean energy investments. • Assist with additional ad-hoc projects as they arise. Qualifications • JD with at least four years of relevant experience at a major law firm or accounting firm. • Experience in taxation of financial products, U.S. international tax, subchapter C, tax equity and U.S. information reporting. • Ability to learn new areas and concepts quickly. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to build, develop and maintain solid working relationships throughout various businesses and corporate departments.
