Member of Technical Staff: Robot Systems – Industrial Robotics Location: San Francisco, CA Employment Type: Full-time Work Arrangement: On-site, 6 days per week Salary: $200K–$350K base Equity: Competitive equity Experience: 1–8 years Visa Sponsorship: Open to visa transfers, including OPT and H-1B transfers About the Role We are looking for a Robot Systems Engineer with 1–8 years of experience to own the critical layer between physical hardware and software infrastructure. You'll be a strong software engineer with embedded systems experience who can integrate robot arms, teleoperation rigs, and sensor systems into reliable, production-grade stacks — not just firmware, but the full picture. You'll be building infrastructure for robots operating across hundreds of miles with sub-200ms round-trip latency. You should be startup-minded, comfortable moving quickly, and able to debug across hardware-software boundaries in ambiguous environments. What You Will Be Doing • Build infrastructure for deployed robots operating at scale, ensuring sub-200ms round-trip latency across hundreds of miles. • Integrate new robot arms, haptic devices, teleoperation rigs, and sensor systems into reliable software stacks used by research and deployment teams. • Debug hardware-software integration issues across drivers, communication protocols, calibration systems, and physical hardware. • Develop software interfaces and abstraction layers connecting hardware to ML training and data pipelines. • Partner with ML and hardware teams to rapidly operationalize new hardware capabilities. What We're Looking For • 1+ years of experience in embedded or systems engineering integrating hardware into software stacks. • Strong software engineering skills with embedded systems and hardware SDKs. • Experience integrating robots, sensors, devices, or other hardware into production software systems. • Comfort debugging problems across hardware and software boundaries. • Ability to work on-site in San Francisco 6 days per week. Preferred Experience • Experience at a robotics, autonomous vehicle, drone, or physical AI company. • Experience with real-time systems where output cannot stall or latency has meaningful consequences. • Familiarity with ROS or other robotics middleware. • Experience with communication protocols, embedded systems, hardware SDKs, or distributed systems. • Hardware debugging or electrical engineering experience is beneficial. Tech Stack • ROS (Robot Operating System) • Hardware SDKs • Communication Protocols • Embedded Systems • Real-Time Systems About the Company This is an early-stage robotics and AI company building and deploying autonomous robots for real-world industrial environments. The company approaches robotics as a full-stack engineering problem, combining hardware, machine learning, software infrastructure, and deployment systems to build highly reliable robotic systems. The team is approximately 20 employees and has raised more than $20M in funding. Team members come from highly regarded AI, robotics, software, and technology organizations. Compensation $200K–$350K base salary plus competitive equity. Compensation depends on experience and background. Location & Work Arrangement This is a full-time, on-site position in San Francisco, CA. Candidates must be able to work from the office 6 days per week. Visa Sponsorship The company is open to visa transfers, including OPT and H-1B transfers.
