DORDT UNIVERSITY JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Associate Athletic Director: Game Operations & Facilities DEPARTMENT: Athletics Department REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics PURPOSE OF POSITION: An Associate Athletic Director assists the Athletic Director in managing sports and health science programs, supporting coaches and student-athletes, and ensuring compliance. They may also be involved in organizing events, managing equipment and facilities, and maintaining records. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assisting the Athletic Director with coaching staff recruitment, supervision, and professional development. • Monitoring academic records, promoting academic achievement, and ensuring eligibility. • Organizing and supervising athletic events, including home games, tournaments, and fundraisers. • Onboarding new coaches. • Oversee and work with joint use in all facilities: Rozenboom Family Athletic Center, All Seasons Center, Open Space Park Soccer Complex. • Ensuring adherence to athletic rules, regulations, and policies, including Title IX. • Assisting with facility schedules, maintenance, and use. • Maintaining communication with coaches, staff, student-athletes, parents, and the community. • Managing all concessions stand locations. • Overseeing game officials, game-day music, and any set up and tear down needed for the game-day or events. • Hiring, training, and supervising game-day student employees. • Building relationships with the local community. • Coordinating media coverage for athletic events and providing announcers scripts for PA for special events. • Performs other duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively. • Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university. • Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information). • A bachelor’s degree is preferred in a relevant field (i.e., Sports Management, Physical Education), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience as a student-athlete or coach is preferred. • Strong leadership qualities are essential for managing teams and fostering a positive athletic environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to interact with student-athletes, coaches, and other stakeholders. • Strong organizational skills are required to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. • The ability to work effectively as part of a team is also essential. • The ability to effectively address and resolve issues related to athletics is crucial.
