Role: Manager - Engineering (Electrical) Duration: Permanent - Full Time Shift: 9AM - 6PM Work Mode: On-site Location: Hosur, TN About The Role: Own and lead the engineering function responsible for design, detailing, validation, and documentation of LV/MV electrical panels, ensuring designs are compliant, manufacturable, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule. What You'll Do: • Lead engineering design and validation of PCC, MCC, APFC, VFD, PLC panels (and similar LV/MV control & distribution panels). • Review customer specs, single-line diagrams (SLD), GA and schematic drawings; ensure technically compliant designs and responses. • Finalise component selection (switchgear, protection devices, meters, relays, VFDs, PLCs, wiring accessories) balancing cost, availability, and standards. • Own engineering deliverables: BOMs, wiring diagrams, design documentation for production and testing. • Partner with production to improve manufacturability and resolve shop-floor issues (layout, wiring, heat dissipation, etc.). • Ensure compliance with relevant IS/IEC standards and statutory safety/performance requirements. • Support FAT, routine/type testing, customer inspections, and technical discussions/approvals. • Drive value engineering, cost reduction, and standardisation via templates, libraries, and engineering best practices. • Plan resources, track schedules, and ensure on-time engineering outputs for orders/projects. • Work cross-functionally with sales/proposals, purchase, quality on technical clarifications, vendor approvals, and NCR resolutions. • Implement engineering processes aligned to ISO 9001 and internal quality systems; build a safety + continuous improvement culture. Requirements What You Need To Qualify: • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. • 10–15 years in electrical control panel/switchboard/panel board design & engineering, including 3–5 years in a leadership role. • Strong exposure to LV/MV switchgear, MCCs, power distribution panels, automation panels and protection systems. • Working knowledge of IS/IEC standards, short-circuit calculations, cable sizing, busbar sizing, and heat dissipation considerations. • Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar) for electrical schematics and GA drawings. • Experience working with major OEM switchgear ecosystems (ABB/Siemens/Schneider/L&T or similar). • Familiarity with shop-floor excellence practices (5S/Lean/CI) Key skills & behaviours • Deep technical grounding in protection schemes, interlocks, control circuits, and PLC/drive integration. • Strong people leadership: mentoring, performance management, ownership mindset. • Clear communication with customers/consultants and internal cross-functional teams. • Project planning, prioritisation, risk identification and fast problem-solving.
