We are seeking a motivated and skilled Lab Engineer to join our Quality Assurance and Metallurgy team to ensure the highest standards of material quality and process control. Location MIDC Wai Dist-Satara State-Maharashtra Key Responsibilities The Lab Engineer will be primarily responsible for managing all metallurgical aspects within the quality control laboratory. · Conducting routine chemical composition tests on raw materials and molten metal using spectrometers or other analytical equipment. · Performing physical and mechanical property testing, including tensile strength, hardness, and impact testing, on finished castings. · Preparing and analyzing microstructures of iron samples to confirm proper graphite nodule formation and ensure compliance with SG iron standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO). · Maintaining and calibrating lab testing registers, equipment, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). · Collaborating with the production team to address quality issues, analyze casting rejections, and implement corrective actions using problem-solving methods like 8D or Fishbone diagrams. · Ensuring consistent sand properties through systematic testing and control measures. · Documenting all test results, preparing quality reports, and supporting internal quality audits (ISO 9001 knowledge is a plus). Qualifications and Experience · Education: Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc.) in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Foundry Technology. A Diploma in Metallurgy with relevant experience may also be considered. · Experience: 1 To 2 years of proven experience working in a chemical or metallurgical laboratory within a CI/SG/Steel foundry environment. · Skills: o Strong knowledge of foundry processes, especially SG iron production and related metallurgical traits. o Proficiency in handling lab testing equipment. o Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. o Excellent technical writing and communication skills for reports and documentation.
