Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer to manage, optimize, and support IT infrastructure across heterogeneous operating systems, virtualized platforms, and cloud environments. The role is focused on ensuring the reliability, security, scalability, and performance of infrastructure services spanning on-premises and cloud-hosted environments. This position will play a key role in infrastructure modernization initiatives, supporting hybrid operating models and cloud adoption strategies while maintaining operational excellence across Windows, Linux, Unix, virtualized, and cloud-based platforms. Key Responsibilities • Administer and support Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems across physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted environments. • Identify and drive improvements in service delivery, operational efficiency, security, and infrastructure reliability. • Collaborate with Senior Engineers, Architecture teams, and Service Delivery leads to define and implement operating system and infrastructure management standards, strategies, and best practices. • Deliver infrastructure services in accordance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and operational targets. • Maintain accurate inventory, lifecycle management, and configuration records for physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructure assets. • Monitor infrastructure health, availability, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues before business impact occurs. • Respond to, troubleshoot, and remediate incidents within agreed service targets, minimizing downtime and service disruption. • Provide technical escalation support and guidance to Level 1 support teams and junior engineers. • Develop and maintain operational documentation, standards, procedures, runbooks, and knowledge articles. • Perform operating system lifecycle activities including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, hardening, and decommissioning. • Administer and support virtualization platforms including VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix and similar technologies. • Support cloud-hosted infrastructure workloads, including virtual machines, storage, backup, monitoring, networking, and identity services in AWS and Microsoft Azure. • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using PowerShell, Bash/Shell scripting, Python, and API-based integrations to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. • Support infrastructure modernization initiatives including migration of server workloads and supporting services from on-premises environments to cloud platforms. • Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions that improve infrastructure observability and operational effectiveness. • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and support Problem Management activities for major incidents, driving preventive and corrective actions. • Maintain secure and compliant infrastructure through vulnerability remediation, security hardening, patch management, and adherence to corporate standards. • Support Disaster Recovery (DR) and resilience planning, including implementation, testing, and documentation of recovery processes. • Contribute to infrastructure projects, service enhancements, and technology refresh initiatives. • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams, providing clear updates on operational status, risks, and project activities. • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required to support business operations and strategic objectives. Required Professional Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise infrastructure environments. • Demonstrated experience supporting Windows Server, Linux, and/or Unix operating systems in production environments. • Experience supporting large-scale virtualized environments using VMware, Nutanix or equivalent virtualization technologies. • Practical experience administering and supporting infrastructure workloads hosted Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure. • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and capacity management. • Experience with PowerShell, Shell/Bash scripting, or similar automation technologies. • Experience working within IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks, including ITIL-based processes. • Experience working in environments that leverage Managed Service Providers (MSPs) for service delivery and operational support. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to proactively identify and implement improvements. • Experience working with multiple technology teams, vendors, and service providers. • Experience contributing to infrastructure, cloud modernizations projects and collaborating across technical and business teams. • Ability to work effectively within a multicultural, globally distributed, and matrixed organization. • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Demonstrates accountability, adaptability, ownership, continuous learning, and results-focused growth through expanding responsibilities and technical expertise. • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English. Preferred Professional Skills & Experience • 5+ years of experience within large enterprise environments. • Experience operating within Agile delivery and DevOps-oriented environments. • Hands-on experience with Nutanix or other hyperconverged infrastructure platforms. • AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent foundational cloud certification. • Experience with cloud migration projects involving server and infrastructure workload transformation. • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, or equivalent technologies. • Working knowledge of Python for infrastructure automation. • Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms. • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments integrating on-premises and public cloud services. • Associate or professional-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS CloudOps Engineer, AZ-104, or equivalent).
