Build the Future of Aerospace Excellence
At BAE Systems, we don’t just build technology; we engineer the critical systems that protect our world and expand our reach into the stars. As a global leader in defense and aerospace, BAE Systems is at the forefront of innovation, delivering high-stakes solutions where failure is not an option.
We are seeking a Development Technician III who thrives at the intersection of precision and performance. In this role, you won’t just be following a manual—you will be the bridge between engineering design and flight-ready reality. From leading box-level integration and conducting rigorous TVAC and vibration testing to fabricating flight hardware to the highest aerospace standards, your expertise will ensure that our most complex systems survive the harshest environments known to man. If you are a steward of quality and a technical expert, come help us define the next generation of aerospace capability.
What You’ll Do:
• Integration & Testing
• Lead box-level integration, PWA testing, and ESTE/GSE certifications.
• Conduct environmental testing, including vibration, thermal, and TVAC.
• Perform power-on checks, operational systems validation, post-delivery activities, and complex rack configuration changes.
• Execute detailed test procedures and component-level troubleshooting.
• Act as a test conductor using software scripts to command hardware and monitor telemetry.
• Utilize DMMs and Cirris testers for cable assembly continuity and verification.
• Assembly & Quality
• Fabricate and rework flight/EDU hardware (PWAs, cables, chassis, and rack assemblies) per IPC/WHMA-A-610/620 Space Addendums and J-STD-001.
• Interpret complex electrical schematics, wire lists, and engineering drawings; document "red line" changes accurately.
• Ensure strict adherence to ESD, safety, tool control, and FOD (Foreign Object Debris) protocols.
• Project Support
• Measure and record test data, identifying and reporting out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Manage assignments with high efficiency, balancing cost, schedule, and hardware manufacturability.
• Generate detailed daily/weekly status updates regarding accomplishments, roadblocks, and completion timelines.
• Foster productive working relationships across Strategic Business Units and the Company to maintain a professional work environment.
• Perform installation and troubleshooting of test cables with minimum supervision.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
• May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
• May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
