Full description
Investment Banking Analyst (Part-Time / During Academic Year)
Fireclay Partners is building a technology-native investment bank. This remote, academic-year role gives exceptional students direct exposure to live M&A execution, financial analysis, and business development while asking them to think like both financiers and builders. We expect our bankers to use AI, programming, automation, structured data, and proprietary technology to improve the quality and speed of their work.
What You Will Do
• Support pitch materials, information memoranda, buyer lists, data rooms, and other workstreams for live and prospective transactions.
• Conduct market, company, and competitive research and translate findings into clear, decision-useful analysis.
• Build financial analyses and valuations using precedent transactions, public comparables, and discounted cash flow methods.
• Support outreach to private equity firms, strategic acquirers, and other market participants.
• Identify repetitive work and build or improve technology-enabled solutions using AI, automation, code, or structured data.
• Maintain rigorous internal tracking and reporting systems while contributing reusable knowledge for future teams.
Who Thrives Here
• High-performing students in finance, accounting, economics, computer science, engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, or a related field.
• Genuine interest in investment banking, M&A, private markets, and the use of technology in professional services.
• Strong analytical judgment, writing, communication, and attention to detail.
• Working proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, plus curiosity about modern AI and data tools.
• A builder mentality: you look for better ways to solve recurring problems instead of accepting manual work as inevitable.
• Evidence that you have built, automated, or programmed something useful. This may be a script, model, application, data workflow, research tool, or other project; sophistication matters less than initiative and clear thinking.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, meet deadlines, and handle confidential information with discretion.
This internship is structured around the academic calendar and offers meaningful responsibility, mentorship, and a differentiated view of how investment banking is evolving.
