Duties include preparing menu items using various equipment including a range with woks, fryer and a combi oven. You will be responsible for keeping the kitchen organized and running efficiently while ensuring proper food handling, sanitation and food storage procedures. Blockhead features an open kitchen and you will be expected to work effectively with the front-of-the-house team in order to maximize guest satisfaction. Cook Responsibilities • Preparing and assembling ingredients for menu items. • Preparing high-quality meals and food items according to company recipes. • Storing excess food at the correct temperature in order to avoid spoilage. • Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet company standards. • Ensuring that cooking utensils are sanitized. • Cleaning and sanitizing food preparation areas. • Assisting other cooks to ensure that orders are completed in a timely manner. • Efficiently resolving problems with guests' orders. • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed. Cook Position Requirements • Previous experience as a cook preferred. • Availability to work nights and weekends. • Strong task and time management abilities. • Ability to stand, walk, bend for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs. • Strong knife skills. • ServSafe food handling certification is preferred. • Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques. • The ability to follow recipes. • The ability to work in a team.
