Packing & Logistics Specialist The UPS Store | On-site, retail store location Location: 734 Franklin Ave, Garden City, New York Pay: $18–$22 per hour Schedule: Weekend availability required; occasional evenings A hands-on role with real responsibility We are looking for a careful, organized problem-solver to support auction-related packing and shipping. You will protect fragile, valuable, and unusually shaped items by packing them accordingly, then accurately complete the computer-based order processing that goes with each shipment. This role combines hands-on specialty packing with administrative work, not packing alone. A strong candidate enjoys figuring out how to protect difficult-to-pack items, notices small details, and can switch confidently between working at a packing station and entering information into a computer. What you will do • Pack artwork, collectibles, fragile goods and high-value items with appropriate protective materials, such as foam, bubble wrap and custom-fit solutions. • Assess the size, shape and fragility of each item; choose a safe, practical packing method and flag unusual risks or concerns. • Enter item, customer, and shipping information accurately; process the item at the register after packing. • Track and organize incoming and outgoing work to help ensure orders are completed correctly and on time. • Answer occasional customer phone calls, clarify order details, and help resolve packing or shipping questions professionally. • Assist with pickups, loading and unloading when needed, and securely arrange packages for transportation. • Keep the work area safe and organized, and coordinate with team members to maintain packing quality. What you need to succeed • Excellent attention to detail and a careful approach to handling merchandise that may be fragile or valuable. • Comfort with everyday computer tasks, accurate data entry, and learning new order-processing or invoicing software. • Strong organization, reliability, communication, and practical problem-solving skills. • Ability to safely lift and move items up to 70 lbs using proper lifting methods. • Availability to work weekends and occasional evenings as required. Helpful experience (not required in every area) Prior experience in specialty packing, shipping, art handling, custom framing, warehouse fulfillment, inventory, invoicing, point-of-sale systems, or customer service is an advantage. We also welcome applicants with transferable hands-on skills and strong computer accuracy who are willing to learn our packing methods. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be needed for certain pickup responsibilities.
