Core Responsibilities Ensure customer and employee safety and satisfaction by keeping public and work spaces clean, sanitary, and well-maintained. Serve as the store's handyman to maintain general building conditions inside and out. Daily Floor & Facility Care: Sweep, mop, and buff the sales floor daily using commercial floor buffers. Clean, sweep, and vacuum checkout areas, front-end spaces, offices, break rooms, stairways, glass entrance doors, and restrooms daily. Property & Grounds Maintenance: Sweep outside stairs, ramps, and the parking lot daily. Perform exterior grounds upkeep including trimming hedges and maintaining property weekly. Scrub exterior sidewalks, ramps, and bathroom surfaces as needed. General Repairs & Upkeep: Handle minor building and fixture maintenance involving walls, floors, lighting, and painting. Clean and repair shopping carts/baskets, wash trash cans, and maintain work tools in proper order. Customer Engagement: Promptly and courteously greet, thank, offer assistance to, and meet the needs of all customers with local hospitality. Working Conditions & Physical Demands Environment: Work primarily in an air-conditioned building with exposure to dirt, noise, and cleaning chemical fumes. Work in wet, cold, or high-temperature conditions when cleaning equipment or chillers/freezers. Occasional outdoor work in varying Hawai'i weather conditions (sun, heat, humidity, rain) to maintain grounds and sweep parking lots. Physical Effort: Continuous standing and walking during shifts. Push and pull up to 500 lbs when operating floor buffers. Lift and carry up to 25 lbs regularly, with occasional heavy lifting up to 100 lbs during freight receiving. Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and ladder climbing to change light bulbs, retrieve supplies, paint, or clean vents. Equipment & Safety: Continuously wear a back support belt while performing job duties. Use protective gear (rubber gloves, boots) and operate floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, power tools, mops, squeegees, and chemical cleaning solutions safely. Qualifications: What You Bring Age Restrictions: Must be at least 16 years of age to work in a walk-in freezer or chill box, and use a case cutter and knife. Must be at least 18 years of age to operate power-driven equipment, including floor buffers, power tools, stoves, ovens, or trash balers. Skills & Knowledge: Practical knowledge of building, equipment, and grounds maintenance. Basic math skills for safely measuring chemical dilution ratios. Clear oral and written communication skills and the ability to work under minimal or no supervision. Work Habits: Self-motivated, punctual, detail-oriented, versatile, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and pleasant work environment. Availability: General availability 7 days a week, including holidays, typically between 8:00 AM and Midnight (or 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM based on store shifts).
