About Thatch For most people, health insurance is something that happens to them: a plan chosen by someone else, with little room to fit their life. Thatch is changing that. We help companies give every employee a real healthcare budget instead of a one-size-fits-all plan, so people can choose the coverage and care that works for them, and employers get predictable costs they can control. It’s a simple idea, but making it real means solving hard problems across healthcare, payments, and technology, and we’re just getting started. We look for people who like solving complex problems, use good judgment, and are comfortable working through ambiguity. People here care deeply about our customers, take real responsibility for what gets built, and are driven by doing work that matters. About the role Thatch is changing healthcare benefits. We give companies a way to offer every employee a health budget so they can choose the plan that fits their life, while giving employers predictable costs they can control. Healthcare is one of the biggest conversations in the country, and Thatch has a story worth telling. As Head of Communications, you’ll own how we tell it across press, thought leadership, and social. You’ll set the strategy and do the work: pitching, writing, posting, and finding the moments where Thatch should be part of the conversation. What you will do • Own Thatch’s communications strategy across earned media, thought leadership, and organic social. • Build relationships with top reporters and land coverage that matters. • Turn company news, industry trends, and cultural moments into stories people want to talk about. • Build distinct voices for Thatch and our executives across press, podcasts, and social. • Turn our data and expertise into original stories, reports, and points of view. • Grow Thatch beyond a B2B benefits brand, making healthcare easier to understand and more relevant to consumers What we are looking for • 10+ years in communications, ideally in healthcare, benefits, or HR tech. • A track record of landing meaningful earned media and building relationships with top reporters. • Exceptional writing and editorial judgment, especially around complex topics. • Deep enough industry fluency to know what’s newsworthy and where Thatch can add to the conversation. • A hands-on operating style. You’re as comfortable writing the pitch as setting the strategy. Experience that stands out • Built a communications function or company narrative from scratch. • Turned data or industry trends into stories that earned attention. • Built a recognizable voice for a company. How we work • We give people ownership and expect good judgment. • We move quickly without compromising quality. • We work across functions to solve hard problems. • We learn from customers and continuously improve. What to expect We aim to keep the process thoughtful, rigorous, and efficient. Most candidates complete it within three weeks. You can expect: • An initial conversation with a recruiter. • A conversation with the hiring manager. • A practical exercise related to the work you'll be doing. • Conversations with future teammates and cross-functional partners. • A final conversation with our Leadership team. Estimated Compensation Range $160,000—$210,000 USD
