Full description
Location: Ashland, KY (onsite)
Type: Permanent · Full time · Night shift, 8-hour shifts that can run to 12 with weekends when volume is high
An industrial equipment and service company is hiring a CNC Machinist for its heavy repair shop, which rebuilds the large components steel mills depend on. This job is about running the machine every shift, not programming it.
What you'll do
•
Run large-format CNC turning equipment, mainly a vertical turret lathe, to bring worn mill components back to print
•
Set up tooling and load programs written by the shop's programming team
•
Adjust offsets, feeds and speeds, and watch cut quality through each job
•
Check finished parts against engineering drawings
•
Catch problems in a program or setup early, before they turn into scrap
What you bring
•
Hands-on CNC operating experience in turning, milling or both (manual-only backgrounds won't fit this role)
•
Comfort reading engineering drawings and GD&T callouts
•
Ability to set up, adjust and monitor a job without a programmer standing by
•
Availability for nights, plus overtime and some weekends when production calls for it
Nice to have: Vertical turret lathe experience (put it at the top of your resume), heavy or large-part machining, basic G-code reading.
Overtime is mandatory when customer volume requires it.
