Psychoeducation Counselor Position Summary Sanctuary is a counseling psychoeducation program of Clergy Care (a division of META Care) serving diocesan priests. The Sanctuary Counselor is a licensed mental health professional who provides one-on-one psychoeducation, helping priests understand what they're experiencing, and learn meaningful tools, aiding in the reduction of stigma. Key Responsibilities • Provide one-on-one psychoeducation to priests via telehealth, across topics like burnout, stress, sleep, substance use, relationships, loneliness, stigma, and life transitions, and other identified topics. • Guide each priest in choosing the right educational themes within the program and walk with him through it. • Track outcomes with brief pre/post assessments to help improve the program. • Recognize when a priest needs more than education and coordinate a referral to outside providers, with his consent. • Maintain confidentiality and Sanctuary's documentation standards and follow crisis protocols when safety concerns arise. Qualifications Required • Master's degree in a mental health field, with an active (or associate/license-eligible) clinical license. • Comfort providing structured psychoeducation rather than psychotherapy. • Willingness to complete Sanctuary's required training. Preferred • Familiarity with Catholic Church life and clergy culture. • Experience with faith-based or clergy populations. • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Skills and Competencies • Embodies the mission of the company which is rooted in Catholic Christian values. • Cultural humility and comfort working with priests and Church structures. • Warm, non-judgmental communication and strong rapport-building. • Sound judgment about when education ends and referral to treatment begins. • Discretion, and comfort working independently in a small, mostly remote team.
