Full description
We're a local, owner-run group of six The UPS Store locations around Austin. Every day, people walk in with something that matters to them: a passport photo before a trip, a document that needs a notary today, flyers for a grand opening, a box that has to reach someone by Friday. Our job is to get it done right and make it easy. If you like helping people, solving problems, and learning something new every week, you'll fit in here.
Where you'd work: The UPS Store #7190, 2401 E 6th St, Ste 3037, Austin 78702 (East Austin)
No late nights. Our stores close at 7 PM on weekdays, Saturdays end by 4 PM, and Sundays are short or closed. Your evenings are yours.
What you get
• $16 to $18 an hour to start, based on experience
• Paid, hands-on training, plus The UPS Store's own online training courses
• Your Texas notary commission and bond, paid for by us
• A real path to running your own store (see below)
• Paid time off, paid holidays, health insurance and a 401(k) with company match for full-time team members
• Flexible hours that can work around school or a second job, with schedules posted at least two weeks ahead in the When I Work app
• A small team that has your back, and something new to learn almost every day
Where this can go
Our store leads run their own store, and many of them started at the counter. When a store-lead job opens, we post it to our own team first. Moving between our six stores to grow is common.
Store leads earn a base salary plus a quarterly bonus tied to how much their store grows. The bonus is paid on the store's print, mailbox, packaging, notary and shipping sales, and it has no cap. Across our current store leads, it has added about 13% to 29% on top of base pay in a year. The bigger the store grows, the higher the bonus rate.
What you’ll do
• You’ll do a bit of everything: shipping and packing, printing and copies, mailboxes, passport photos and notary work.
• Print is a big part of what we do now. You’ll help customers with business cards, flyers, postcards, posters, banners and signs, plus everyday copies and documents, and make sure every job comes out right.
• We’re the neighborhood drop-off point for Amazon, Happy Returns, TikTok Shop, AT&T, Spectrum and more, so returns are a big part of every shift. It’s fast-paced and the day goes by quickly.
• You’ll help all kinds of customers, from someone shipping for the first time to someone printing a résumé on our self-serve computer.
• Getting the details right matters: addresses, print orders and notary journals.
• It’s an active job. You’re on your feet the whole shift and you’ll pack and lift boxes, often 40 pounds or more.
• November and December are our busiest months, and the season moves fast with a good team around you.
You'll do well here if you
• Like people and stay patient when a customer is stressed
• Are reliable. You show up on time and do what you said you'd do.
• Are comfortable on a computer and type carefully
• Like learning, and don't mind being asked to try something new
• Have retail, restaurant, office or customer service experience. It helps, but it isn't required.
Requirements
• 18 or older, with a high school diploma or GED
• Eligible for a Texas notary commission. Every team member becomes a notary, and state law doesn't allow anyone convicted of a felony or a crime of moral turpitude to hold a commission.
• Able to stand for a full shift and lift 40+ pounds
• Available 35+ hours a week for full-time or 15 to 25 for part-time, including some weekend shifts on a rotation
• Willing to pass a background check
How to apply
Apply here. It takes about 5 minutes. A real person reads every application, and we’ll reach out if it looks like a match. Prefer to talk in person? Stop by the store and ask for the manager on duty.
