Position Summary The Crew Leader is a hands-on player/coach responsible for leading a field installation crew to complete projects safely, efficiently, and according to scope and quality standards. This role sets the tone for job-site performance, productivity, accountability, and professionalism while serving as the key communication link between the crew and the Field Supervisor. This is a working leader role for someone who understands commercial furniture installation, can keep a crew moving, catches issues early, and takes pride in completing work correctly the first time. A Day in the Life • Start the day by reviewing the project scope, layout, timeline, safety expectations, tools, materials, and daily work assignments with the crew. • Work alongside installers while monitoring pace, labor hours, quality, safety, and job-site professionalism. • Identify scope discrepancies, access issues, material shortages, schedule risks, or workmanship concerns early and communicate them to the Field Supervisor. • Keep the crew focused, reduce downtime, adjust priorities as needed, and make sure daily productivity expectations are being met. • Complete final walkthroughs, address quality concerns before leaving the job site, and provide daily job status updates through ClickUp. Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership and Execution • Lead and supervise assigned installers on job sites. • Ensure the team understands project scope, timelines, and quality expectations. • Assign daily tasks and monitor progress throughout the shift. • Maintain high standards of professionalism, work ethic, and accountability. • Set the example in productivity, quality, and safety. Productivity and Labor Control • Execute projects within estimated labor hours. • Monitor pace of work and adjust resources as needed. • Prevent downtime and idle labor. • Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are prepared in advance. • Track daily progress against schedule. Quality Control • Ensure installations meet company standards and client expectations. • Perform final walkthroughs before declaring a job complete. • Minimize return trips, rework, and call-backs. • Address workmanship issues immediately. • Help eliminate controllable zero sells. Communication and Coordination • Communicate clearly and proactively with the Field Supervisor regarding scope discrepancies, access issues, material shortages, and schedule risks. • Provide accurate daily job status updates through ClickUp. • Escalate problems early, not after delays occur. Safety and Compliance • Enforce safety procedures on job sites. • Conduct daily safety checks. • Ensure the crew follows company policies and client requirements. • Report incidents immediately. Team Development • Train entry-level installers. • Coach crew members on efficiency, quality, safety, and professionalism. • Identify high performers and development opportunities. • Support a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Knowledge and Required Skills Knowledge • Commercial furniture installation, office furniture installation, systems furniture, modular furniture, or related field installation work. • Installation processes, job-site workflow, and sequencing of work. • Scope documents, project layouts, and installation instructions. • Labor-hour expectations, productivity targets, and how to reduce idle time. • Quality standards, final walkthrough expectations, and customer satisfaction drivers. • Job-site safety procedures, client site requirements, and incident reporting. • Tools, materials, and equipment needed to complete work efficiently. • ClickUp or similar systems used for daily job updates and field communication. Required Skills • Ability to lead, direct, and motivate a small crew in a hands-on field environment. • Strong communication skills with installers, Field Supervisors, and customers or client contacts when needed. • Ability to assign work, monitor progress, and keep the team focused throughout the shift. • Firm but fair accountability style with the confidence to address performance or quality issues in the moment. • Strong problem-solving skills and the judgment to escalate issues before they create delays. • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality concerns before a job is closed. • Ability to coach newer installers and model safe, efficient, professional behavior. • Self-starter mindset with high ownership, reliability, and follow-through. Qualifications • 3+ years of commercial furniture installation experience preferred. • Previous experience leading small teams, crews, or job-site work strongly preferred. • Strong understanding of installation processes, tools, materials, and job-site expectations. • Ability to read and interpret scope documents, project layouts, and work instructions. • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. • High accountability standards and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Key Performance Indicators • Labor variance: actual hours compared to budgeted hours. • Standard labor performance. • Controllable zero sells. • Customer satisfaction. • Safety incidents. • Crew systems execution, including ClickUp updates. Benefits Storr offers a competitive benefits package designed to support employees both professionally and personally. Benefits may include medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, floating holidays, retirement plan options, and additional company-sponsored benefits based on eligibility. This role also offers steady full-time hours, hands-on leadership experience, training and development opportunities, and the ability to grow within Field Operations.
