Description PURPOSE STATEMENT Pharmacy Technician assist pharmacists in preparing, distributing and dispensing medications, maintaining the medication inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy Technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Procure and distribute medications per order, pharmacist request or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols. • Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures. • Maintain adequate documentation as required by law and regulation. • Contribute to the effective operation of the department. • Participate in the quality improvement activities of the department. • Maintain competence required for current job title/position. • Maintain regular and predictable attendance. • Perform other essential duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or equivalent. • Registration with Missouri Board of Pharmacy or eligible to become registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy. • Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ability to prioritize and problem solve, ability to mathematically compute and convert drug concentrations and doses. • Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program preferred. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day. • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard. • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines. • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing. • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition. • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs. • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
