ABOUT THIS POSITION: This position is for working as a substitute teacher aide for the RISE Together Preschool and Short-Term Programs departments located on AIDB North in Decatur, Alabama. This position will assist with summer and school-year courses. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or GED. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience working with children with disabilities. • Experience in an educational or childcare setting. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs duties in the absence of full time AIDB staff as required for position including, but not limited to the following: • Must be able to physically assist students in wheelchairs and/or students with physical disabilities as their needs dictate, including the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. • Must work cooperatively with other departmental personnel to serve students. • Must assume responsibility for assisting in the classroom when an AIDB staff member is absent. • Must follow all AIDB policies and procedures as well as applicable state and federal laws. • Must remain awake and alert at all times. • Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner. • Must adhere to confidentiality requirements. • Other duties as assigned. • Upon being offered employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."
