Full description
Key Responsibilities
•
Design, develop, review, and optimize complex T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, views, tables, indexes, and data-access patterns.
•
Analyze execution plans, Query Store data, waits, blocking, memory grants, parallelism, CPU, I/O, tempdb usage, and transaction-log behavior to isolate and resolve performance issues.
•
Refactor row-by-row and scalar-function-heavy processing into efficient set-based designs, including appropriate use of inline table-valued functions, temporary staging, indexing, and early filtering.
•
Tune long-running batch, snapshot, compliance, reporting, and data-export workloads while preserving data integrity and output equivalence.
•
Design and validate database structures, keys, identity strategies, data models, and replication patterns for large, tightly coupled transactional workloads.
•
Support SQL Server upgrades and configuration changes through representative performance testing, execution-plan comparison, regression validation, and documented rollback or fix-forward plans.
•
Engineer and support high availability, disaster recovery, transactional replication, monitoring, maintenance, archival, purge, and capacity-management practices.
•
Troubleshoot production incidents with application, infrastructure, SRE, QA, and vendor teams; preserve evidence and translate findings into durable corrective actions.
•
Contribute to cloud and platform modernization involving Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL, data pipelines, and workload offload from monolithic SQL platforms.
•
Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, standards, documentation, mentoring, and knowledge transfer.

Experience tuning high-volume transactional and batch-processing workloads with measurable before-and-after validation.
Experience with SQL Server upgrades, configuration assessment, performance testing, and production troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, SQL Agent, replication, backup/restore, maintenance, and operational monitoring.
Strong analytical, documentation, collaboration, and incident-management skills
Nice To Have
Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Database, or SQL Server on Azure virtual machines.
Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric pipelines, Snowflake, or reporting/data-platform modernization.
PowerShell or other automation for database deployment, validation, monitoring, or maintenance.
Experience with financial-services transaction, compliance, reporting, or data-feed workloads.
