Job Summary Job Summary The English Department at Purdue University welcomes applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Professional Writing. A full-time academic year (August to May) position, this position is based in West Lafayette with a start date in August 2027. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach courses in our undergraduate major in Professional Writing, as well as courses in our new Games, Narrative, and eSports certificate and possibly courses in our doctoral program in Rhetoric and Composition. Position Responsibilities The expected course load is four courses each semester, with administrative opportunities that could reduce the number of courses per semester. We seek applicants with outstanding teaching skills and significant expertise in the scholarship of teaching and learning. We are particularly interested in scholars who work across varied areas of study, including rhetorical theory, technical communication, storytelling, internships and career readiness, game studies, emerging technologies, and AI. Education and Experience Qualifications: A PhD in Rhetoric, Technical and/or Professional Communication, or related field is required at the time of appointment. ABD candidates will be considered for interviews, but PhD must be completed prior to August 2027.
