This role has a substantial understanding of accounts payable practices and applies that knowledge and skill set to complete a wide range of AP and general accounting tasks. Work assignments are moderately difficult and require the incumbent to use judgment to resolve discrepancies, research issues, and recommend process improvements. The AP Staff Accountant works closely with the AP team and will escalate non-routine or higher-risk issues to the Senior AP Manager. Key Responsibilities • Process a full range of accounts payable transactions, including three-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices, ensuring accurate general ledger coding and appropriate approvals. • Review, research, and resolve moderately complex invoice discrepancies, coding errors, and vendor disputes, exercising judgment in determining root cause and appropriate resolution. • Reconcile vendor statements and AP subledger to the general ledger; investigate and resolve variances. • Maintain vendor master data, including W-9 collection, TIN verification, and setup/updates in the ERP system. • Support month-end close activities, including AP aging analysis and preparation of supporting schedules. • Assist with 1099 reporting and other year-end tax filing support related to vendor payments. • Respond to internal and vendor inquiries regarding invoice and payment status in a timely, professional manner. • Identify opportunities to improve AP workflows and controls, and recommend process or system enhancements to the Senior AP Manager. • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls (e.g., SOX where applicable), and relevant accounting standards. • Support special projects, system implementations, or process transitions as assigned. • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience • Minimum of 2–3 years of related accounts payable or general accounting experience. • Experience working within an ERP or accounting system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics) required. • Prior experience in a mid-size or larger organization, or shared services environment, is a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Substantial working knowledge of accounts payable processes, general accounting principles, and internal controls. • Demonstrated ability to apply judgment in resolving moderately complex issues and making recommendations without extensive oversight. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume transaction processing. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas); comfortable working with large data sets. • Strong English written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders across departments. • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-based accounting function. Working Conditions • remote/hybrid/on-site — Bangalore Office • Occasional extended hours may be required during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close. • Primarily sedentary work involving extended computer use.
