Job Description
What’s it like working for a company that makes a national impact? Inspiring. At BAE Systems, we work on cutting edge innovations that help to support some of the nation’s biggest defense programs and commercial applications. You can be a part of that mission helping to develop manufacturing strategies for new technologies, supporting producibility with an eye for continuous improvement, and helping to develop the pipeline for sustainment activities – all while growing your own career with our team in Space Systems.
This position is on first shift working a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off! Start time is flexible, usually around 7am.
BAE Systems’ Space Systems Product Line provides some of the most advanced, high-reliability space electronics. Our products have provided services to a variety of civil, commercial, and national security space missions for over the past 30 years, and we would like YOU to join us as we continue to support critical communication, navigation, surveillance and tracking, planetary exploration, weather, and classified missions.
We put our customers first exemplified by our mission of “We Protect Those Who Protect Us”. However, we also promote a flexible work environment that provides you a chance to change the world while also supporting work-life balance. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, the Hudson, NH team is seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer (Engineering Principal – Test) to join our team. This position will specifically focus on the Secure Communications product area under which we build complex EOIR (Electro-Optical Infrared) systems. Over the next year, this role will focus heavily on supporting an incoming EMD (Development) program with a cold start from the factory, quickly followed by large follow-on awards which have forecasts over the next 5-6 years. Leveraging heavy collaboration with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Program – this role will focus on the support of test and troubleshooting of modules throughout the build process to ensure on-time delivery and stellar quality. While aiming to meet our delivery goals, this position will also be expected to support our theme of continuous improvement as we look for ways to improve yield, reduce defects, and provide a product that remains competitive to our customer base. Candidates for this role should expect hands-on troubleshooting, participation in cross-functional reviews/presentations, and a desire to go above and beyond the boundaries of success.
General Responsibilities
As a Test Engineer, you will be providing support to the Secure Communications factory. Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:
• Support the test and troubleshooting of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA's), modules, and sub-assemblies, working directly with hardware, design, and product engineering personnel as required.
• Collaboration with and train manufacturing test personnel staff to debug failures down to module and component level.
• Communication utilizing written and oral communication skills; interacting with managers, staff, co-workers and others encountered in the course of work; ability to compose materials such as detailed reports and work-related documents and communicate substantively about them.
• Utilize company and industry standard tools to determine RCCA, generate and implement continuous improvements in product and test design and develop methodologies to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput.
• Comprehensive analysis of test data to identify changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
• Generation and review of technical content of test procedures, drawings, engineering specifications, reports, Engineering Change Orders, and other documentation.
• Collaboration with Process Engineering to seamlessly integrate Test Procedures with Assembly Processes.
