This newly created Senior Accountant, Accounting Integration role is a high-impact opportunity to help bring newly acquired external businesses into UL Solutions’ accounting and reporting environment. In this role, you will partner with Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Legal, and external advisors to understand and merge transactions into accurate, repeatable accounting processes. The ideal candidate combines strong U.S. GAAP technical accounting knowledge with operational accounting experience and thrives in a fast-paced environment managing multiple transactions and integration projects. This is a full-time, hybrid (3 days on-site) position located at either our Northbrook, IL or Chicago, IL office. • Help connect newly acquired businesses to UL Solutions’ chart of accounts, ledgers, and management reporting. • Turn acquisition accounting conclusions into clear accounting memoranda and practical SOPs that teams can use after handoff. • Support the integration of acquired entities into the company’s accounting, reporting, control, and close processes. • Prepare and review complex journal entries tied to acquisitions, integrations, and related accounting activities. • Own reconciliations for acquired entities and help resolve issues before they become close disruptions. • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for acquired businesses. • Support SOX compliance and internal control design for integration accounting activities. • Apply U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies while learning how technical accounting decisions flow through operations. • Spot opportunities to make integration processes faster, cleaner, and more scalable. • Build standardized transaction accounting templates, schedules, and controls that improve consistency across deals. • Participate in ERP implementation and finance transformation initiatives connected to integration work. • Take on special projects that provide visibility into how accounting, finance, tax, treasury, legal, and operations work together after a transaction closes. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting • CPA required, or actively pursuing CPA with significant progress completed. EXPERIENCE • Required • 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong foundation in U.S. GAAP. • Advanced Excel skills, including complex models, data analysis, and the ability to turn data into useful insights. • Experience preparing or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and technical accounting documentation. • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to keep work moving across multiple stakeholders and timelines. • Preferred • Public accounting experience, preferably Big Four or national accounting firm. • Exposure to merger and acquisition integration projects or a strong interest in learning how accounting supports transactions. • Experience in a SOX-controlled environment. • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or other large ERP systems. • Knowledge of ASC 805 and related accounting. KEY COMPETENCIES • You communicate clearly, build trust quickly, and enjoy working with people across functions. • You are curious, analytical, and detail-oriented, with the judgment to ask good questions and challenge assumptions. • You can organize competing priorities, manage deadlines, and keep momentum when projects are evolving. • You are proactive, results-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced environment. • You adapt well to change and see new challenges as opportunities to learn, improve processes, and make an impact. Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career.
