Department: Magnetic Resonance Imaging Schedule PRN, Day Shift Hours: Varied General Summary Performs routine and special magnetic resonance imaging procedures. Performs procedures to produce MR images of designated anatomical areas according to established practices and procedures. Performs duties as on call technologist, is able to train new staff, and has passed the MRI advanced level specialty exam as per ARRT. Essential Functions: • Performs MR imaging studies; obtains patient history; explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. • Under the direct supervision of the physician, administers intravenous contrast media. Recognizes complications (e.g., contrast reaction) and treats appropriately. • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. • Positions and transfers patients comfortably. • Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices MRI safety procedures. • Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. • Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. • Requests and orders supplies as necessary to keep materials on hand at all times. • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms. Qualifications Minimum Education: • High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience: • 2 years Relevant experience. Required Licenses: • Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and • Registered Technologist-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - ARRT Upon Hire Required or • Certified MRI Technologist - ARMRIT Upon Hire Required Courses and Training: • Accredited program in radiologic technology and training in MRI procedures.
