Tends fabricating machines such as cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punch, that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Read job specifications and blueprints to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. • Set stops and guides to specified length as indicated. • Position work pieces against stops or align layout marks with die or blade. • Push buttons or depress pedals to activate machines. • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects and machine malfunction. • Measure work piece dimensions with necessary tools. • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust and scale from work pieces. • Perform minor machine maintenance.
