Overview The position is responsible for the quality of molded parts according to quality standards and procedures. Inspections include first articles, in-process inspections, release of finished product and Statistical Process Controls (SPC). Inform production personnel of non-conforming materials. Analyzes defective parts and provides feedback to Production personnel. Works with engineering and manufacturing teams in projects related to mold validations, materials, and vendors to develop solutions and implement preventative measures and process improvements. Responsibilities • Inspect parts being produced per established procedures. • Generates Defective Material Reports (DMR) for non-conforming materials. • Responsible for controlling inventory within MRB • Completes and interprets Statistical Process Controls charts and histograms, enters inspection data into the SPC software, analyses its trends and takes action to improve part quality. • Assists and prepares QAP (Validation) packages. • Creates/Improves automated measurement programs • Ensure control plans and associated documentation are maintained. • Monitors and reports on quality related issues, scrap, rework levels, and defective parts per million (DPPM) • Stop production in the event of manufacture of unacceptable goods/processes. • May assist in train direct labor personnel and others. • Undertakes special assignments as required. • Contributes and participates in continuous improvement activities. • Position requires an individual who is enthusiastic, hardworking and team player. Qualifications • Ability to read and understand drawings (GD&T) • Understands how to use and apply correct inspection tools/equipment for various inspection methods. • Statistical background (i.e. Capability studies, Gage R&R) • Able to write appropriate Work Instructions • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools • Computer literate in Microsoft Office tools • Excellent communication skills, high integrity, results driven. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience with “InfinityQS” SPC system • CMM/Micro-Vu/3D Scanner Programming/Troubleshooting experience • Experience in Minitab • Molding experience • Six Sigma Certification • Proficiency in Excel • Bilingual - English and Spanish Rain Bird is an equal opportunity employer.
