Position number: K0242938 Position Title and Salary: Court Services Officer I, Grade 36, $29.07 hourly $29.82 after 6 months of successful performance $32.09 after 1-year of successful performance Location of Employment: 8th Judicial District, Geary County, Kansas Kansas Judicial Branch Benefits State Employment Center - Benefits (ks.gov) This position requires the supervision of adults and juveniles placed on probation by the District Courts. Job Duties: • Supervise general assignment caseload or other specific caseload as directed by Chief CSO. • Preparation of detailed adult and juvenile investigative reports for the District Court including presentence reports, violations of probation and those related to the transfer of supervision. • Verify completion of all Court ordered conditions of probation. • Maintains chronological records of contacts with clients and of the caseload in general • Works with clients in identifying their needs and referring them to appropriate agencies for assistance and requires working with the community in developing and in using their resources. • Supervise collection of restitution and costs; comply with requirements of state mandated as well as local policies and procedures, and perform any additional duties as required by the Chief CSO or the Court. • Complete administrative requirements including statistics and correspondence with other agencies and the public. • Utilize the Tyler Supervision Case Management System in all cases Education and Experience: • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Preferred major course work in corrections, counseling, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology or related field. Additional Desired Qualifications: • Knowledge of interviewing techniques. • Knowledge of individual counseling techniques. • Knowledge of English usage and written communication format. • Ability to communicate information concisely and accurately so that others can comprehend the ideas being conveyed. • Prior experience in probation work, LSI-R or LSCMI certification, WRNA certification, YLS certification, and EPICS certification are preferred. Additional Requirements: All members of this classification are required to access criminal history record information (CHRI) through the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) or another criminal justice entity. Authorized access to KCJIS requires the employee to be: 1) A U.S. Citizen 2) At least 18 years of age, and pass a record check of criminal activity and criminal history as defined by KCJIS Administrative Policy and Procedure Manual. The screening for criminal activity and criminal history must be completed prior to beginning employment.
