POSITION SUMMARY: The Golf Course maintenance summer intern is responsible for chemical applications, irrigation troubleshooting, and exposure to small crew leadership opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  • Performs chemical applications - boom spraying greens, tees, and fairways. • Performs maintenance on Rainbird/Toro sprinkler head and troubleshoots as needed. • Sands topdressing of greens. • Hand waters bent grass greens in the transition zone using a pogo sensor. • Leads small project crew when opportunities arise.  • Networks with the other on course assistants, course superintendents as well as the Director of Agronomy.  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:  • Must be currently enrolled and working towards a Turfgrass Management/Landscaping Degree KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:  • Service-oriented mindset and capable of making every guest feel valued. • Strong communication skills • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Competent in working with multiple systems, including Microsoft Office and power point. • Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. • A multi-tasker, prioritizing time effectively. • Able to work a varying shift including weekends and holidays. • Basic Computer Skills  TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: • N/A PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand, and carry out written and oral directions, and establish good working relationships with co-workers. • Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis. • Have the ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally. INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT: • Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision, using well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor.
